Some Finished Projects

I shared some in progress pictures earlier of some crochet baby blankets I was working on.  Here's the finished items.  I thought they came out great and I liked this picture so much I decided to make it my main picture for my pattern listing.

In addition to these I was also asked to make a lapghan for donation.  This was made with worsted weight yarn and worked up beautifully!  I hope the recipient enjoys it :-)

Now I've been asked to make a couple more of the baby blankets so I will be working on those.  In addition I have completed a couple of rompers and am working on sweaters to go with them.  As soon as they are done and have the buttons sewn on I will share pictures of those too!

Have a Great Day!

Crochet - Hurray!!

Wow, ok so what have I been up to?  I've been knitting socks, designing a knitted baby hat pattern and working on crochet baby blankets that were ordered.  Here are some quick pictures to give you a gist of that all has been keeping me busy!

Socks - I'm still working on my monthly sock challenge and am doing great so far.  Here are my June socks.  I'd show you the July ones (which are finished) but they are blocking atm.

Cherry Blossom Socks

I've also been working on a design for a knitted baby turban and have finally completed the pattern.  Look for it soon in my Peachtree Cottage Etsy Shop

Peachtree Cottage Baby Turban

I also received orders for 3 Avalon blankets.  One as a lapghan (I'm doing that in green and yellow) and two for babies, one in blue and white and one in pink and white.  The blue one is done and the pink one is in the works!  Here are some pictures of them in process.

Til Next Time!!!

May Socks

My May socks are done! These are a ladies size medium (7-8) The picture doesn't quite show the real color. They are a very dark midnight blue! #knitfromstash2015

I've decided to start taking sock orders so if anyone is wanting me to make them a pair of socks just drop me a message :-)

What To Do?

So the other day I went to one of my local yarn shops to help a friend with a crochet issue.  While there I glanced around and stumbled across this yarn that I just fell in love with!

It's a very soft baby DK weight yarn.  The overall tone when looked at from a distance is a rosey peach.  I snatched all of it up!  I have 6 skeins (over 1000 yards), plus 3 skeins of a coordinating rose color...so I can make just about anything I would want to make with it.  However, I can't decide on a project :-(  So I'm looking for suggestions.  Any idea input would be appreciated!

More Socks!

I'm still working on the Knit From Stash Sock KAL and knitting up a pair of socks each month.  What I've found out so far is that I *LOVE* knitting socks!  They are a quick, easy to take with you, project which makes them great for stitch-ins (or waiting rooms, etc.)  Here are the socks that I've made since the last time I showed them to you:

March 2015:

April 2015:

The design for the May socks is really pretty and I'm itching to get started on them!!  I've also nearly completed one of my previously posted "sneak peeks"

Til next time...Don't get tangled!

It's actually quite peaceful smile emoticon I have finished the socks for this month and they are blocking as I type this (I'll post pictures when they are dry). First Attempts

Sometimes things just don't go the way you want.  Over the years, here and there, I've dabbled with the thought of dying my own yarn.  Well it's been on my mind more and more lately so I decided it was finally time to give it a try.  I gathered the needed dye, vinegar, supplies, etc. to give it a go and was looking happily forward to my first dyed yarn.

So I put the water in the pot, added the vinegar, added the dye, and added the yarn...and waited.
And something went awry.  This is the result I got after letting the yarn dry.

Beautiful colors...Blues and a pale pink and though the photo doesn't show it well there are hints of lavender here and there where the pink and blue come together.  All in all it came out nicely and I will use it, but here's the problem...it was supposed to be all over blue.

Somehow in my process I heated the water at the wrong time and the dye separated and maybe there wasn't enough...I don't know.  I've thought about dying it over, but decided to leave it as it is and use it this way as a honor to my first dyed yarn.

This hasn't got me down though.  I've gathered up more supplies, done more research on how to do this and I will be trying again!!  So stay tuned to stories from the Peachtree Cottage Dyepot.

Socks, Socks, and more Socks....

Just a quick note to show you all the socks I've done for February (I'm in a Knit a Long that is making socks each month).

The first pair is done in Premiere Yarn (Wool-Free Lace - Limestone color).  Pattern name:  Chocolate Covered Cables

The second pair is called Love's Wings.  They are worked up in Anzula Nebula yarn (Raspberry is the color).  This yarn has a silvery shimmer thread running through it, but unfortunately that doesn't show very well in the picture.

I'm still loving making socks and can't wait to get started on the ones for March!

I've also started dying some of my own yarn.  I hope to have a picture of some of that for the next post :-)

Catching Up

Wow...I sure need to do a lot of catching up here.  Sorry for not posting for such a long time.  So let's see what I was up to and busy with since August 2014.

Knitting: Mainly I've been doing a lot of knitting.  I've connected with the North Georgia Knitting Guild and have become an active member.  I have made several hats and other charity items.  I've finished (but haven't yet blocked) a knitted shawl, several hats and scarves (all of which need to have pictures taken.

I have also declared this year (2015) to be the "Year of the Sock" for me and finally made my first pair of knitted socks!!

They are a simple 3x1 ribbed socks but they both came out correctly and this encouraged me to sign up for a Knit A Long (KAL) to do a pair of socks each month.  The January socks were called "The Hornet".  I really like how the yarn worked up for these:

Currently I'm working on the February socks and have plans to start another shawl.

Crochet:  I'm still making hats and scarves and writing up patterns, mainly for baby afghans.  I also connected with the local crochet guild group and have been doing some charity items for them and going to meetings.  However there are some personality clashes and I have decided to drop out of that guild/group.  I'll keep hunting until I either find another group or make one of my own.

Stitch-ins:  All these great activities have connected me with some WONDERFUL people who either knit or crochet or both.  Many of them get together several times a week for social stitch-in's where we stitch on our own individual projects, chat, help one another, laugh, plan outings to local yarn stores, and in general just enjoy each other's company.  Some of these wonderful people have become close friends and I'm sooooo happy to have met them all!

Tatting:  I still have some tatting listed in my Etsy shop and still take orders, however I've noticed more and more that my tatting stresses my hands to the point where they become pain filled.  Because of this I'm slowly weaning off my tatting and concentrating more on my knitting.

Dying Yarn:  LOL Nope I haven't done this yet!...but YET is the keyword here.  I've gathered all the needed materials and tools along with some undyed wool yarn so that I can give this a try.  My plan is to dye some yarn for my own use and sell off some as well.  So keep an eye out at Peachtree Cottage for Hand Dyed Yarn.  I'll be starting out with Sock Yarn and if that goes well I'll then add in Worsted Weight and other sizes.  I've always been told I'm good with color combinations so I think this will be a good alternative activity for me to eventually replace the tatting when my hands won't cooperate for tatting anymore.

Puppies:  We've added another puppy to the household...Allow me to introduce you to Jack Frost, our little Maltese

Sophie and Jack are technically my daughter's dogs and will go with her when she moves.

Daughter:  My wonderful daughter, Jennifer Robinson, is GETTING MARRIED!  Yep, that's right! She met someone special (Matt Jones) and they have decided to get married in July.  So we are busy busy BUSY with wedding plans and creating things for the wedding, shopping for a dress, etc.

So all of this is what I've been busy with and why I'll continue to be busy for a while more!  I'll try to post more and keep this updated, but to be honest, until after the wedding I'm not sure how much time I'll have for writing posts.

Until the next time...Hugs!
