Happy Holidays 2013!

Now the Holiday rush is just about over. I've finished up all my custom orders and special requests. I've been making tatted jewelry, bookmarks, beaded bracelets, tissue box covers and lots more.  I've also been attending some classes to learn some new things.  Now I can spend the rest of my holidays working on new things.  And hopefully will have more free time to share things on this blog better!

What's to come? JEWELRY! I'm working on beaded jewelry and chainmaille jewelry as my new product line for the coming year. I'm also planning on more beaded tatted jewelry too!  I'm excited and can't wait to get a few pieces ready.  They will be available in both my Etsy shop ( ) and my Zibbet store ( )

So here's a big THANK YOU to all my customers and friends who support my business!  Best wishes to you all for a Happy Holiday Season and 2014!

More Holiday Orders!

Wow, I've had tons of orders for holiday gifts this year.  From bookmarks, to jewelry, to tissue box covers, to hats and scarves, and more!  Whew, I'm a busy little elf right now so not a lot of time for posting.  Can't share pictures of the stuff being made as gifts, but I do have a Tissue Box Cover I can share with you.  The customer was looking for a shade of white that would match her grandmother's thread crocheted bedspread.

I found some Antique White and added white and cream ribbons and I think it is BEAUTIFUL!  The customer said it matched perfectly!

I've also added another design it yourself (DIY) tatted bookmark to my Zibbet shop -  If you're looking for a nice tatted bookmark there are plenty of thread colors to choose from.  This example is Blue River Glades.

This can also be ordered from my Etsy Shop -

Now I'm off to crochet some hats!  Happy Holidays!

Tatting Tutor and Playing with Beads

Today I met a lovely young lady who has contacted me about helping her to learn tatting. We had a delightful time going over the basics of tatting, hiding threads, sewing in ends, etc. She's off to a really good start with getting the flip down and already has nice double stitches with good tension. I am so happy she asked me to tutor her and so happy to have helped pass the art of tatting thread to another person. I look forward to the next time we meet up once she's gotten in some practice.

In addition to tatting I'm also working on some beading. This time I tried a Right Angle weave to create a pretty bracelet made with Pink and White Pearl Beads and accented with Black Seed Beads. I'm enjoying beadwork and plans to make some more beaded jewelry in the near future.

All my tatting and beadwork is available in my shops - or

Ack! Where does the time go? I've been so busy working on stuff that I barely get time to even check my email. I received a large order for 18 bookmarks that I'm working on and it's taking a lot of my time. However I did manage to squeeze in some Halloween tatting for a bit of fun, so thought I'd share those with everyone.

Holiday Tatting Begins

Well, just as I was finishing up a set of bookmarks for the bookstore, I got a request to make 2 of Maus' Christmas Trees.  Remember this?

This is the design that the order is for.  The design was written by Maus and shared on the Tatting Goddess's BlogSpot.  The info for it all was in an earlier post I made when I first made this -

So now I'll be busy making 2 of these and by the time I'm finished the bookstore will be wanting more bookmarks.

I have some Halloween tatting done that is currently blocking.  I hope to have pictures to post soon.

Don't forget.  My tatting and other creations can be found in my Etsy Shop -

Gifts for Baby

Recently Katie, a friend of my daughter (Jai Robinson) had a baby shower.  In the past I'd made a baby blanket for her last baby which was so loved she asked for me to make her one for this baby too.  She also has a 3rd child which is just a bit older than the others.  I didn't think it was fair for 2 of the 3 children to have a baby blanket so I decided to make one for the older child too.  Back in the 60s I'd made a pillow for my grandmother and I remembered the design, thinking it would be pretty done as a baby blanket.  So off to work I went and stitched up my Avalon Baby Blanket which is crib sized (only done a bit larger for the 3rd child).

My daughter made the cards that went with the gifts!  Check her blog to see them - Jai Moore Designs

I decided to publish and sell this pattern and it's available in my Etsy Shop

Avalon Baby Blanket

Katie told my daughter that for this newest baby she had picked the colors of purple and yellow.  I had a pattern for a baby afghan that would work up well in those colors, so once again I started stitching away.  This is the result:

Since Katie also had requested a baby sweater, bonnet and booties, I designed a baby sweater set to coordinate with the baby afghan.  I am so pleased with how they turned out and with this design that I'm working on writing it down so I can also sell the pattern for the entire set.

Abigail Baby Sweater Set

I will put pattern for the Abigail Baby Sweater Set (named after the friend's baby) in my Etsy Shop and will also announce it here.

I had fun at the baby shower and the baby afghan and sweater set were well received :-)

Where I have been...

Well...from my last post you all can see we got a puppy named Sophie.  She is such a delight and I love having her in my life.  In fact she was so wonderful that shortly after we got her, my daughter and I went back and got me a puppy!

He is also a cross breed of Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu only he takes after the Bichon side (has curlier [is that a word?] hair.  He's the four legged love of my life!  His name is Sawyer and this is the best picture I have of him (he isn't still for photos very

However, having 2 puppies, trying to housebreak and basic obedience train them has kept me very busy all this time.  I've done a little tatting and other creating, but finding the time to post here about them hasn't come easy.  Now that Sophie is nearly 1 year old and Sawyer is 10 months old I'm starting to get back into a more normal schedule and getting back to work on some of the projects that got set aside.

This is my newest tatting.  It's a bookmark I made based on Jon Yusoff's Rose Window design.  I worked it up in a deep rose thread (Lizbeth's English Rose Dark I think is the name) and the picture really doesn't reflect how pretty this color is.

I also tried my hand at something new for me...beaded crochet rope.  I had bought a kit for this a while back, came across it one day, and decided to give it a go.  I really enjoyed working this up and was very pleasantly surprised at how nicely it came out.  I plan to make more beaded crochet rope items and have already started on another one in a different design.

The bookmark and bracelet are available in my shop -

My posting might be a bit less often but I am going to try to post more when I do post.  I want to also say thank you to all the other blog people out there who continue to provide me with such wonderful inspiration!
