So I'm in catch up mode and trying to get things back to normal around here. I woke up early this morning and put the extra time to use putting together the parts for 2 bears. I still need to give them accessories and finishing touches but it's progress. I have an idea of a way to combine some tatting with one of them and plan to make the other a St. Patrick's Day themed bear. I will post pictures of them on my Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/peachtreecottage ) and here when they are completed.
On the tatting front I've completed two more bookmarks. One is the Black Magic design by Mary Konior made into a bookmark and the other was designed by Tattrldy (http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2010/09/odds-and-ends.html). I liked it so much I just had to try it myself. I think they both came out rather nicely.
I had a photo session for the bookmarks today too so here are their pictures. I tried some new set ups to see if it would show them off any better. I'd love any feedback on that because I'm trying to improve my pictures.
Motif # 20
Motif # 21:
I made some Deviled Eggs earlier today...off to have a snack on 'em! Yummmmmm!
Very pretty tatting!
ReplyDeleteI like the ones on the books better than the ones on the book page. The type on the page is distracting.
Thank you, it's nice to get that kind of feedback :-)
ReplyDeleteYour bookmarks are beautiful! I also like the bookmarks draped over the books, but the librarian in me says the open page shows how the bookmark will look when in use. ; )
ReplyDeleteNormally I try to set up pictures for an even 'tone' but when I set the books on the table I saw how the sunlight was 'dappling' across them. I thought the effect really helped the pictures this time so I went with it. I'm kinda partial to the open book pictures but the draped over book pictures are good too...at least I think so...lol...but that's me and that's why I asked for other's opinions because I don't always see things the same way others do.
ReplyDeletevery pretty , the pink fan like bookmark is a really pretty pattern, good job :)
ReplyDeleteYour bookmarks are lovely and both stagings are effective. The open book lets you see the shape of the full bookmark better, but the details of the bookmarks show up better on the stacked books. Variety is always nice.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think the ones draped over the books show off the bookmarks the best. Your second bookmark looks like the one I designed this fall. Check it out at http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2010/09/odds-and-ends.html.
ReplyDeleteTattrldy, That's it! That's the one I saw. I was really impressed with it's simplicity yet how beautiful it was and I just *had* to try to make one like it. I hope you don't mind. I'll edit the post to make sure you receive credit for the design. Thanks for letting me know!
ReplyDeleteLove the bookmark in Mary Konior's Black Magic pattern. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteJust read your saga about your little bear! What a frustrating situation! No wonder you're tired! I empathize with the 'naps'. I got over my cold awhile ago, but I still have no energy. Winter weather and fewer daylight hours contribute to my lethargy.
Thank you all for the feedback and wonderful comments.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job of the bookmark and don't mind at all. Actually, I hit the publish button before I meant to and was going to say how lovely both bookmarks look. Thanks you for editing to include where you found mine, I appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteMy Pleasure :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely tatting,
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have put over a book they show the bookmark off better than on a page of writing.
You have a lovely blog and I will come back again.
Margaret
Your bookmarks look amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteYour tatting is terrific and your photos rock!
ReplyDeleteFox : ))
Nice bookmark, and I like the pic of it draped over the books.
ReplyDeleteBoth those bookmarks are fantastic! I like the way they look draped over the books both. I don't think I'd seen many pictures done that way, but it looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you all again for the kind comments. They are truly appreciated :-)
