A Couple of New Bears

My two newest creations are Ayako and Illyana:

Ayako is a precious little orchid pink and gray anime panda. She just barely measures at 2.0 inches when standing which makes her a micro bear. Her name is Ayako (pronounced "eh-Ya-koh") which means "pretty child" in Japanese (and Pandese).

Illyana is a sweet little peach and black panda with a very full tummy. That's because she loves to munch on the little lavender flower buds she finds in her garden. Her name is Illyana (pronounced "ILL-e-anna") which means "chubby" in pandese.

I hope you like them :-)

Two More Biscornus

Here's my next stitching update. I've finished two more biscornus. The first one is called "Quiet & Confidence". It brings to mind the 'royals' when I look at it. I think it is one that could very easily be found there. This was my first time doing miniature tassels and they weren't nearly as difficult as I thought they would be. I think they really add the finishing touch to this one. The next one is "Dragonfly Biscornu". It's difficult to see in the picture but the dragonflies are stitched up with metalic thread and they shimmer and catch the light just like real dragonflies do! Hope you enjoy them....working on more still so hopefully another update soon.

Busy Busy Busy

My my how time passes when you're busy! I've not been posting here much because I've been very busy on a large special order for some counted cross stitch pin cushions. I'm nearly done with them now so I should be back to bear making (and making other things) soon. Here are the pictures of the pin cushions I've been working on: In addition to to the pin cushions I've also been working on a larger counted cross stitch design, Angel of the Sea by Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum. This is a memorial piece I'm doing in honor of my mother. I started stitching it when she had a stroke and was in the hospital. When she eventually passed away from a 2nd stroke I put this away and lost the desire to work on it. Now it's years later and I've picked it up again and am determined to complete it and hang it on the wall over my bed as a memorial to my mother. This is my latest progress picture. Since this picture was done I've also completed the waves and shells at the bottom, along with the ribbons and wing on the left side:

I wanted to see how my new design would work up in a 'furry' thread. So here's Natalie! She stands at 5.5 inches tall and is fully jointed and has wire armature for full posing capablities.

Natalie is on her way to a tea party! She's donned her best spring dress, hat, and because it's a warm day she's wearing sandals...all in her favorite Spring colors. Her name is Natalie (pronounced "Nat-ah-lee") which means "tea time" in bearese.

Another pair of earrings and a sweet Easter Bear....

This is what I've been up to the last few days. I'm looking into more designs for tatted jewelry and hope to expand on that area of creation soon. I also just completed Egatha, a sweet little bear that fits inside and Easter Egg!

I also just got in some new threads and can't wait to start working with them. Some will be used for tatting and some are furry type that I hope will make some really cute little bears. So watch for more to come!

More Tatted Earrings

Well I've been at it again...here's the newest pair of earrings along with a picture of Paddi....more to come!

What else have I been up to? I did manage to do a few things: make another little bear, get the March issue of Mini Teddy Hugs done, some work on my Angel of the Sea counted cross stitch project, started working on another fashion doll outfit, completed another doily, etc. I've been practicing my shuttle tatting and have bought some lovely new HDT that are calling out for me to make something with them, I'm just not sure yet what I want to make. I think I prefer the shuttle tatting over the needle tatting, but they both have their benefits.

As I finish up things I will post pictures. I just got an idea of something I want to do for Easter so that will be coming too.

Later,

Mary

Beginning a New Year!

I've finished my first bear for the new year. Her name is Teenie (why I called her Teenie I don't know because she's a tad taller than 3 inches). She is made from my own blend of acrylic threads and comes with pale pink footpads and a deep pink heart on the bottom of each foot and a deep pink heart on her chest. She is also wearing a pink organdy and satin ribbon. Her eyes are shaded and have eyelids to give them added depth. Teenie is a very soft fluffy white with pink ears and deep pink hearts on her feet. Her name is Teenie (pronounced "Teen-knee") which means "luv bug" in bearese.

Teenie was made for the Thread Artist Guild Luv Bug challenge.
